Text

A signed paragraph of our own copy

Encypher-authored marketing copy, signed as unstructured text through the production text signer. The provenance markers are invisible, so the paragraph reads normally while carrying its credential.

A C2PA manifest carried in unstructured text, using the embedding method Encypher authored for the specification. Verification recovers the document-level credential from the text itself.

Technical validation is not a C2PA Conformance Program pass. Missing fields remain "not reported"; they are not successful checks. Recorded result captured 2026-09-07T15:37:38.741Z from POST /api/v1/public/verify.

Exactly what this format supports
text/plain: signing supported, verification supported. Signable under C2PA 2.4. Not covered by the formal C2PA Conformance Program pass. It is implemented to the specification, which is a different and weaker statement.
How this file was produced
Signed 2026-09-07T15:37:38.742Z through POST /api/v1/sign with action c2pa.created, no declared ingredients. No watermark was requested, so no watermark claim is made about this file. SHA-256 of the published bytes: 42e328461b2181b63c0f2e891d4c8af753351cbfd71899e9460920a1ebef90ab

Limits of this sample

  • This text carries invisible C2PA provenance markers. No separate perceptual media watermark was requested.
  • The public verifier reports technical validation. This result is not a C2PA Conformance Program pass.
  • Copying this text out of a rendered page can drop the invisible markers depending on the surface. Verify the downloaded file to check the file itself.

Image

A signed Encypher brand card

The current Encypher logo on a white brand card, rendered to JPEG and signed through the production media signer. The artwork comes from Encypher's own published vector logo.

A C2PA manifest embedded in the image container as JUMBF. Signer identity, byte integrity, and the RFC 3161 timestamp are all read out of the file.

Exactly what this format supports
image/jpeg: signing supported, verification supported. Signable under C2PA 2.2 and 2.4. Covered by the formal C2PA 2.2 Conformance Program pass.
How this file was produced
Signed 2026-09-07T15:37:46.287Z through POST /api/v1/sign/media with action c2pa.opened, 1 declared ingredient. No watermark was requested, so no watermark claim is made about this file. SHA-256 of the published bytes: 9cf420cef39395cb4776653b353556e92b065caaa6c8881553735898605ef398

Limits of this sample

  • No watermark was applied to this file. Its evidence is the C2PA credential only, and a C2PA credential says nothing about watermark survival through re-encoding.
  • The public verifier reports technical validation. This result is not a C2PA Conformance Program pass.

Audio

A signed eight-second audio clip

Eight seconds of audio taken from an Encypher product highlight video and signed through the production media signer. Encypher produced the source, so the clip can be published.

A C2PA manifest embedded in the audio container. This is evidence of credential presence and validation for audio. It is not evidence of a watermark, and no watermark was applied.

  • The public verifier reports technical validation. This result is not a C2PA Conformance Program pass.
  • This is evidence for audio specifically. It says nothing about video, and the image sample says nothing about audio.

Video

A signed six-second video clip

Six seconds of an Encypher product highlight video, downscaled and signed through the production media signer. Encypher produced the source, so the clip can be published.

A C2PA manifest embedded in the video container. This is evidence of credential presence and validation for video. It is not evidence of a watermark, and no watermark was applied.

  • The public verifier reports technical validation. This result is not a C2PA Conformance Program pass.
  • This is evidence for video specifically, in an MP4 container. Other video containers are listed in the coverage table with their own spec versions.

Composition with ingredients

A derivative signed with its source declared as an ingredient

The signed brand card above, resized. The resize strips the original manifest, exactly as an export or transcode step does, so the derivative is re-signed with the signed original declared as an ingredient.

An asset signed with a previously signed file declared as an ingredient. Verification reports the ingredient and its relationship, which is what a client requirement for ingredient provenance actually asks for. Watermarking is not a substitute for a declared ingredient and does not satisfy that requirement.

Limits of this sample

  • The ingredient is the signed image sample above. This demonstrates one parent-asset reference and its available credentials, not acceptance against every client specification. Watermarking is a separate signal.
  • No watermark was applied to this file. Its evidence is the C2PA credential only, and a C2PA credential says nothing about watermark survival through re-encoding.
  • The public verifier reports technical validation. This result is not a C2PA Conformance Program pass.

What the numbers count

Several different denominators, kept apart.

70+ formats for signing and verification is the product claim. It is not a watermark claim, not a spec-version claim, and not a conformance claim. Each row says what it measures.

Format coverage measures and what each one counts
MeasureCountWhat it means
Signing and verification70Canonical formats Encypher both signs and verifies. This is the basis of the public coverage claim.
Signing support77Canonical formats the signing API accepts. Larger than the joint count, so on its own it overstates end-to-end support.
Verification support70Canonical formats the verification API reads. Each verification result reports the specification version it evaluated.
Signing under C2PA 2.467Joint formats whose capability records list C2PA 2.4 signing. The remaining records do not list that version; check the matrix before choosing a signing version.
Accepted media-type spellings93Every MIME spelling the API accepts, counting aliases such as image/jpg beside image/jpeg. An alias is a second name for one format, never extra coverage.
Formal C2PA 2.2 conformance20Media types covered by Encypher's C2PA Conformance Program pass, which was run against C2PA 2.2. Narrower than product coverage, and separate from C2PA 2.4 signing. There is no C2PA 2.4 conformance claim here.
WatermarkingseparateWatermarking is a different capability with its own, much smaller, media support and its own evidence. No count on this page describes watermark coverage, and no sample here claims watermark survival.

Joint sign-and-verify formats by category: audio 6, document 28, font 3, image 13, text 13, video 7. Read live from the public capability matrix when this page rendered.

Signing spec version, per format

This table reports signing versions per format. An empty version list is not evidence of support for a particular version. The conformance column describes the narrower formal program record, separately from product signing support.
