How it works.

Three layers protect a publisher's work: an access gate where a crawler pays, a signed mark that travels with the article even past a crawler that skipped the gate, and an attribution box that splits payment between sources.
Only the signed mark travels with the work. It carries proof and terms; it does not stop use.

  1. Sign your work, free.

    Join the Publisher Program and sign what you publish under your own name.

    Publish your licensing terms in formats AI companies can read, like RSLRSL: Really Simple Licensing: a standard for publishing AI licensing terms that robots.txt can point to. and ODRLODRL: Open Digital Rights Language: a W3C format for writing usage terms that software can read..

  3. Opt in, if you want.

    An authorized person accepts the Publisher Program Terms in the dashboard. Membership is off until then.

  4. Make your own deals.

    License your work directly or through a licensing platform. You keep your full fee. The AI licensee pays Encypher separately for verification and usage reporting.

  5. Leave any time.

    Leave from the dashboard. Section 5 of the Program Terms still covers AI deals for content you signed as a member.

What membership means.

Questions.

Is membership automatic?
No. It is off by default. It starts only when an authorized person accepts the Publisher Program Terms for your organization. Signing your work does not enroll you and grants Encypher no license to it.
Does Encypher negotiate deals for members?
No. Encypher does not broker or negotiate AI licensing deals. You license your work directly or through a licensing platform, and you keep your full licensing fee.
Who pays Encypher?
The AI licensee pays Encypher separately for verification and usage reporting, on top of your fee. Encypher takes no share of your fee, and you do not collect its charge.
Can a publisher network join for its sites?
Yes. A platform or network can enroll the publishers it serves as one group and keep its relationship with them.
What does it cost?
Nothing. Signing in the Publisher Program is free within fair use, and membership is free.
How do I leave?
Leave from the dashboard. For AI deals that cover content you signed as a member, Section 5 of the Program Terms still applies.
