Capabilities

Protect, verify, and monetize every format

Six capabilities, one engine, every content format you produce.

Sign every format you publish

Articles, photos, podcasts, video, PDFs, websites, live streams. One API handles all of them. Composite signing bundles an entire article package into a single provenance unit, so the hero image, podcast clip, and written piece share one verifiable chain of custody.

Watermarks built to survive distribution

Invisible text embeddings are designed to survive copy-paste, scraping, and CMS rendering. Audio and video watermarks are designed to survive transcoding, compression, and format conversion. Image watermarks are designed to survive cropping and resizing. Together they support the EU AI Act marking requirements that start applying August 2, 2026.

Free verification for anyone

Any journalist, court, compliance team, or AI company can verify any signed asset at no cost through the public API. Quote integrity verification checks whether AI-generated citations match your original signed content.

Evidence from observed activity

Encypher logs third-party AI crawlers hitting your own site and API surfaces. The browser extension adds opportunistic sightings, and perceptual-hash matching finds your images across participating organizations. There is no web-wide crawl, no search-results monitoring, and no view inside an AI answer. What is observed becomes an evidence package with a cryptographic chain of custody, across articles, images, audio, and video.

Rights at every level

Publisher rights profiles, licensing terms, and usage policies travel with content. Per-segment rights let you license one section of an article under Creative Commons while keeping another exclusive. Machine-readable rights terms let AI companies resolve rights programmatically before ingestion.

Coalition licensing

Coalition membership is opt-in. Every format you opt in is indexed for licensing deals. Direct deals you negotiate yourself stay 100% yours; coalition-brokered deals share a portion with Encypher, with exact terms in your coalition agreement.

We didn't adopt the text-provenance standard. We wrote it.

The missing layer

Strengthens your existing stack

Content provenance is not a replacement for access control or attribution tools. It is the layer that makes them enforceable. Mark writes the record those layers rely on, and Meter reports what the record shows.

Layer 1

Access control

robots.txtTollBitCloudflare

Tell AI crawlers not to scrape. These tools work at the server level, but only when AI companies respect your directives.

When crawlers ignore these signals, content-level provenance provides the evidence that your terms were attached and violated.

Layer 2

Content provenance

Encypher MarkEncypher MeterEncypher TraceEncypher Seal

Proof of origin embedded in the content itself. Articles, photos, audio, video, websites. Mark binds the publisher, the organization identity behind it, and the licensing terms to each output, and that binding travels with every copy. Trace embeds a recipient-specific identifier in each distributed copy, Seal binds an integrity record so a recipient can detect changes made after signing, and Meter turns that provenance activity into bounded usage reports. This is the layer Encypher owns, and every product lives in it. Meter is an early partner program.

Layer 3

Attribution and monetization

ProRataDappierMicrosoft PCM

Marketplaces estimate which sources shaped an AI output and route revenue to publishers, inside opted-in ecosystems. Encypher sits under that work rather than beside it: Mark supplies the signed per-output record and machine-readable terms an attribution estimate can be checked against, and Meter turns provenance activity into bounded usage reports for licensing and rights review. Encypher does not price content, broker deals, or move money.

Signed origin makes an attribution claim checkable instead of a statistical estimate. Meter is an early partner program, and every report keeps observed provenance activity separate from partner-supplied retrieval and usage events.

Partners and OEM

Ship provenance inside your own product

The same engine behind Encypher can run under your brand.

White-label verification pages

Serve verification results on your own domain with your own branding. Your users check provenance without leaving your product; the cryptographic verification runs on Encypher infrastructure.

OEM engine embedding

Embed the signing and verification engine in your CMS, DAM, or distribution platform. REST and SDK surfaces, C2PA-standard output, licensing terms that scale with your deployment.
